After her family is evicted from their apartment in Oakland, California, twelve year old Dagmar is forced to spend her summer vacation off the grid in a tiny house on wheels with her eccentric father, stepmother, and annoying five year old half brother. Subsisting on a steady diet of granola and frustrated by the lack of cell service, a bored Dagmar spends her days exploring the surrounding forest and wishing she was back home in Oakland. Dagmar discovers they are living right next to a tech billionaire and his spoiled, but lonely son, Blake. When a raging forest fire threatens to destroy everything, both families must work together to survive. Dagmar realizes it's not the size of the home you live in, but the people in it that matters.
Keir Graff's writing had me laughing out loud. This book makes you appreciate your family and be grateful for the things you have in life. Highly recommended.
